Whoop whoop!!! Today we finished our project with the help of two extra crews and a lot of hard work. We were able to complete two side walks, new siding, and some odd jobs around the house. I have grown so close with my crew this week and I'm so excited to keep in touch with them after this week. We all come from different walks of life, but we came together this week for a bigger purpose. Serving Bonnie and hearing her story is a memory that I will never forget. It was an emotional night as it is my last trip as a high schooler and possibly for a long time. This has by far been the best mission trip I've ever been one and I feel so blessed to have experienced with the best group of people. Some stats from the week: 404 campers total 17 different states 24 churches 68 crews 56 cites 13000 volunteer hours Tonight's devotion by Hannah {M&M's} {Credited to creativebiblestudy.com} Instead of trying to sum up her devotion, I decided to use the direct source and put it down below. Enjoy!:) Thank you so much for reading about our week!! Camp is over, but the blogs won't stop! I will end up the mission trip blogs on Sunday, so make sure you check back in tomorrow night.
God bless, Sydney

Tomorrow is our last day here at camp, with our crews and our residents, but that's tomorrow. Today is Thursday and Thursday is a magical day. Thursday is normally the day when most crews finish up their projects and then go to another work cite to help out another crew. My crew was fortunate enough to receive 2 additional crews to help us with our project, but we still need to go back tomorrow(which means another day with sweet Bonnie!!). It's exciting to come back from a long, hot day of work and here how each person either finished their job or will be finished tomorrow. There are 68 crews and some are doubled up, so there is roughly 60 job cites around Ohio that 400 people are working on and I have faith that they will all get finished. It's incredible to see the impact that this camp has on chiliocothe and how other camps just like this are impacting other states. I've grown so close to not only my youth group, but also my crew this week and I know that God hand placed me in both to show me his love. My crew is extremely close and I feel so blessed to have met them and worked with them this week to serve our amazing resident. Not only have I bonded with them, but just in one short day I've bonded with the other 2 crews as well. I'm excited to see how God will work through me and this camp tomorrow as all the residents join us for evening program.
Tonight's devotion: How to lose control {Parker and Abby} Summed up Have you ever played a video game; Whether it be on your phone or on a gaming device? Games are all about control. If you don't click the buttons on the control or feed your animals on Nintendo, they don't move, they have no purpose. Often times in life we try and take control. Over relationships and situations or even over people. We replay scenarios over and over again in our heads and try to figure out how we could have done things differently. It's exhausting trying to control each and every situation that your in and honestly, it's impossible. There is only one person who should control what we do and that person is God. He has the ultimate control over our lives and without him we would have no purpose. We would be like the characters in the video game: lifeless. Without God, we don't move, we don't have a reason to complete a goal. Sometimes it's hard to put the control in someone else hands, but nothing feels better than letting go and we'll, losing control. "Let go and let God" Ecclesiastes 1:2- "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." Luke11:11 "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?" Matthew 6: 8 "Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." All thoughts in the devotion above credited to Abby and Parker. You can find Abby's blog at abbigalealexis.wordpress Thank y'all so much for reading all about Day 5! Check back tomorrow night to read about our last day at camp:( God bless, Sydney We made it to Wednesday! Today is our half day for the week so we get to spend time with our youth group for the rest of the day. But, that doesn't mean the work stopped. Today my crew and I managed to pour concrete for our sidewalk and find out that we did our other project completely wrong. That just means we get to spend the rest of the week with our resident learning more about her life story.
For our half day activity, the youth group went to a local park and did some team bonding activities and then, of course, ate. It was really nice to spend time with everyone during the hustle and bustle of week and enjoy some friendly competition. Every night we have a program with the whole camp of around 400 kids and adults that involves music, a skit and a devotion. Tonight's devotion hit a lot of people in our group and it always amazes me how much we come together as a group. Not one person was sitting by themselves. This incredible group of kids never fails to make each person feel love and it is the most amazing thing to witness. Tonight's Devotion by Norma, Devin, and Anna {The Potter} For our youth group devotion, Norma handed out a thing of Play-dough to everyone and asked us to make something that represented a talent that we had or one we wanted. It was a little but shorter tonight because program ran later than normal, but none the less it had a powerful message. I am the potter you, are the clay. Jesus put his fingerprints on all of us and we are all different, but each are loved by him equally. I hope that you are enjoying these nightly posts, even if they are getting shorter and shorter. Each day brings new blessings and I'm excited to see how our last few days at camp go! Thank you all so much for reading. God bless, Sydney |
