Taken at a Casting Crowns concert. With the warm weather approaching (yay summer!), storms and bad weather begin to come as well. When warm air rises and meets the cool air, water droplets become more dense and fall to the ground leading to rain and storms. I'm personally not a huge fan of storms (thunder and lightning aren't my thing). They scare me and it's a situation that I have no control over, which makes me even more scared. I don't understand how some people enjoy them and sit outside to watch them or why anyone would want to be a storm chaser for the news or National Geographic. I'm trying to hide from the storm, why are you chasing it? Well, maybe they ask they ask me the same question; Why are you hiding from the storm that I'm chasing after? I think it has a lot to do with how we each handle situations. We go through different roller coasters in our lives. Some of you may be at the bottom and some at the highest point in your lives thus far, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news, hard times will come into our lives even when we're at our happiest. Many people think that once they reach a certain level of happiness, they will be happy forever, but that's not exactly how it works. God warns us of this in Psalm:
Psalm 46:2 And so we need not fear even when the world blows up and the mountains crumble into the sea. It's not a matter of if it happens, but a matter of when it happens. Two of the words that speak out to me in this passage are even when. Even when bad times come, I will be with you. Not just through the happy, good times in our lives, but even when we are struggling and hide our pain from God. We like to yell at God for putting us through trials because it's easier to blame it on someone else, so why not blame it on the person that created us? Many of you may not recognize this verse without the context before it. There are many quotes that come from psalm 46, but it may help to read it first. 1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.[c] 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most Highdwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. 7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. 8 Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields[d] with fire. 10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Some of the more popular verses from this are " be still and know that I am God", "God is within her, she will not fail", and God is our refuge and strength", but rarely does anyone look at the two words even if. God promises us a lot in this chapter. He will be with us through all of the storms and troubles and life and he won't let us fail, but he never says those things won't happen. You see, God promises us that he will be with us even when these things happen. Even when we lose someone, even when we're hurting, even when we don't trust us, he will be there. It's sometimes hard to understand why bad things happen to us, or why God would let those things happen, but we need to remember that even when they do, he will never leave us. based off of Sadie Robertsons YouTube video m.youtube.com/watch?v=myzHK3dRicE
